Welcome! We're So Glad You're Here

Welcome (or welcome back) to Barker Creek Community School! We're excited you've decided to join us for the 2026-27 school year. If you believe you've received this notice in error, please contact the Barker Creek office at 360-662-2570.

This is the first edition of our monthly bulletin. You'll be hearing from us in the middle of every month, and we'll be including important information that applies to all our families.

A Message from our Principal:

Hello Barker Creek families!

My name is Rusty Willson and I have the honor of being the new principal at Barker Creek Community School! I may be new to BCCS, but I have been leading in education and in CKSD for quite some time. I know many students and families from my time of being the principal of Ridgetop Middle School or working as the Director of our Secondary Schools. It is during the last three years that I have gotten to witness the impact that BCCS has on our students and families. Whether Parent Partnership, Classroom Based or our Virtual Academy, this school has a track record of doing amazing things for students. I look forward to working with you this year and into the future.

This week, our Barker Creek staff is back in the building, training, sharing and preparing for the upcoming year. We look forward to connecting with you whether over the phone or in person in the coming days. Look out for the important dates for our Orientations and times that we are bringing students in.

Food Service at Barker Creek

We are able to provide free breakfasts and lunches to all students at our school. Please complete a Free & Reduced form to qualify your family for additional resources. Complete the form through LINQ Connect or complete a paper form in the Barker Creek office.

Did you know that CKSD prepares special meals for students with life-threatening allergies? If your student qualifies, please fill out the Request for Special Dietary Accommodations form. The form helps Child Nutrition staff understand your child's medical need for a special diet, what foods they cannot eat, and what foods they should substitute. Please return the completed form to our school nurse or to Health Services. You only need to fill out this form once! When approved, your student's accommodation will stay with them until graduation.

Questions? Please call the CKSD Child Nutrition Dept. at 360-662-1090.

Be sure to bring the medication in the container provided by the pharmacy and your doctor's order that contains the following information: the name of the student, a signature from the health care provider, and a parent/guardian signature. Students cannot transport their own medication, unless it is a self-carry medication. If the medication is to be stored in our office, it must be signed in by a parent or guardian.
