Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in helping our schools and students succeed! Our students benefit when you share your talents and time. We are so grateful for your desire to help our students succeed!

If you’re 62 or older, your volunteer service may also qualify you for a tax break.

Volunteer Application Process

  • In order to complete this application, you will need to provide one of the following forms of identification:

    • U.S. driver's license
    • U.S. state-issued ID card
    • U.S. passport
    • U.S. permanent resident card (green card)
    • U.S. work permit
    • Nexus card
    • Mexican consular card

Driver's licenses and state ID cards can be scanned automatically at check-in kiosks for the fastest process; the other ID types above are reviewed by front office staff.

After we receive the results of your background check, the school volunteer coordinator will match your expertise, interests, and skills with the available volunteer opportunities.

Please read the volunteer handbook to learn about volunteer rules and guidelines. We look forward to welcoming you!

  • What is Verkada?

Verkada is a security technology company whose products are used by thousands of organizations globally — including many K-12 school districts — to manage building safety, visitor check-in, and volunteer records. Verkada is replacing Raptor as our visitor and volunteer check-in and management system.

Why did I get an email?

Current Central Kitsap School District volunteers were added to the Verkada system on Friday, August 21, 2026. Those volunteers received a welcome email from Verkada. The email was sent from no-reply@command.verkada.com. This is a legitimate, automated notification from our new system — not spam or a phishing attempt — and no further action is required. Your approved volunteer status carries over automatically; you do not need to reapply.

    Is Raptor going away?

Yes, Raptor is being replaced by Verkada for visitor and volunteer management district-wide.

  • Moving to a new system doesn't change how carefully we handle volunteer information. As with our previous system, Verkada only collects what's needed to verify identity, complete required background checks, and manage safe entry to our buildings — for example, your name, date of birth, ID information, and a photo captured at check-in.

This information is protected under Verkada's security program: it's encrypted both in transit and at rest, access is limited to authorized district staff and multi-factor-authenticated systems, and Verkada is independently audited each year (SOC 2 Type 2) and holds ISO 27001 information security certification, among others.

Our district controls how long this information is kept, and retention is set in alignment with Washington State records retention requirements. Once a record's required retention period ends, it is automatically and permanently deleted.
