December 19: K-8 Vision & Hearing Re-Screening, 10:30am - 12:30pm
December 22-January 2: Winter Break. No school.
January 19: Martin Luther King Jr Day. No school.
January 30: Non-student day. No school.

School closure for Winter Break

We're cruising through December and Winter Break will be here before we know it! As a reminder to students and families, all CKSD schools will be closed for the duration, December 22nd - January 2nd. From all of us at Barker Creek, we wish you a restful and restorative break, and look forward to seeing students and families back in our building when we reopen on Monday, January 5th.

Virtual Academy families--be aware that VA Advisors will not be available to reset assignments or tests during the break. The school calendar doesn’t count holiday dates, so students will not get behind by taking their school vacation time. Enjoy your holidays and your time off!

Inclement Weather Procedures at BCCS

With the weather starting to turn, it's inevitable we'll have some schedule adjustments due to inclement weather. Here's how those district decisions affect our on-campus programs and appointments here at Barker Creek:

Classroom-based

2-hour delay: No breakfast served. AM Session in study hall. PM Session runs as usual. No West Side Loop bussing.
Early release: No PM Session. No PM bussing.
Canceled: No school. Campus is closed.

K-8 Enrichment

2-hour delay: Enrichment runs as usual.
Early release: No Enrichment. Campus is open.
Canceled: No Enrichment. Campus is closed.

Advisory Meetings/Conferences/Etc

2-hour delay: Meetings prior to 9:30am are canceled.
Early release: Meetings after students have been released are canceled.
Canceled: All meetings are canceled. If your meeting is canceled due to inclement weather, please contact the appropriate staff member to discuss an alternate plan.

Class of 2026 - Important Dates & Information

Due to the anticipated size of our 2026 graduating class, we will again be hosting two graduation ceremonies this year. They will be held on Wednesday, June 10th, 2026 at Newlife Training & Events Center in Silverdale.

Ceremony times are as follows:

11:00am - smaller-by-design ceremony
2:00pm - larger ceremony

We hope our smaller-by-design morning option helps to alleviate the stress some of our graduates may feel about a large gathering, and allow each of our graduates to truly enjoy the experience of being celebrated.

Graduates are asked to sign up for one ceremony or the other. The sign-up form will be live next month on the Barker Creek Graduation page. This page will also be your source for event details, answers to FAQs, due dates, and more!

Reminder - Support for our Barker Creek families

We understand that times can be tough — no matter the challenges, we want you to know you’re not alone.

Students have access to a collection of hygiene products, school supplies, our comfort closet for clothing needs, food bank, washer/dryer, shower facilities, and free breakfast and lunch while on campus during mealtimes (7:30-8:00am & 11:00-11:35am).

All students have access to these resources, no questions asked.

Barker Creek partners with Backpacks4Kids to provide monthly food boxes to families. If you are interested in this resource, please contact our Office Manager, Bri Braverman, at 360-622-2570 ext 2572.
